About Pottery Barn
After the end of World War II, a few years later in 1949, Pottery Barn was born in New York City's Lower Manhattan. The company was quickly associated with a unique look of products for homes. Today, the company still employs in-house designers to create those unique pieces of furniture with a focus on comfort and quality.
Furniture Selections
You'll quickly discover the biggest advantage to shopping at a Pottery Barn Outlet is the wide range of furniture selections. You'll find that many designs and styles available at the outlet stores aren't carried by the typical Pottery Barn stores.

Buying Pottery Barn Furniture: Other Ways
There are very few Pottery Barn products that can bought anywhere other than in a Pottery Barn store, outlet or ordered from the company’s website. However, you can find certain select items at various clearinghouses, auction sites and a few online stores like Amazon.
A word search on Amazon will pull up a few pages of Pottery Barn products, including a few pieces of furniture. These items are sold on the Amazon website by the official Pottery Barn website. As with anything purchased online, you'll want to consider the shipping costs before placing your order.
You can purchase a few of the home items such as draperies and a handful of accessories on eBay that are sold by individuals. Just conduct a word search on the eBay homepage and you'll pull up a listing. Next, you can visit each seller's eBay store to view the entire stock of Pottery Barn items. You may be able to find some good buys this way, but you'll want to compare the pricing to that of the actual Pottery Barn store, outlet or website. Many of the eBay sellers offer free shipping, which could be a savings if you don't live near a store or furniture outlet. There are other online auction sites in addition to eBay where you might be able to find accessories for your new room design.
Another source for buying Pottery Barn items is Craig's List. Many people resell items they've purchased by using the ad section of this online clearinghouse. You don't have the same safeguards against fraud like you do on eBay so you'll want to thoroughly check out the seller.
Planning a Shopping Trip
Once you've found the outlet closest to you, it's time to plan out your shopping trip. You should have a good idea of the pieces of furniture you want to purchase to help you organize your time.
Make a list of each room and each piece of furniture you need for that room. If you're limited on time, then be as specific as possible in your furniture list to reduce the amount of time you spend just browsing the store. For example, if you want a dark wood finish, then you'll simply bypass the light pine furniture sections.
Markdowns and Sale Items
You'll discover that many of the already discounted furniture pieces are often marked down further due to a sale, discontinued style, overstock, or some other reason. You'll want to make sure that any pieces you select are from the same lot numbers so wood stains and colors will match.
Ecologically Friendly Business
If you want to support green companies, then Pottery Barn's stores have many green initiatives with many new and ongoing ones. All of Pottery Barn's stores are in the process of changing the lighting systems to low-energy lighting. New stores use low-VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) paints, reclaimed and recycled wood flooring and other eco-friendly initiatives.
Limited Time Offers
Another way to save is to take advantage of limited time offers. When you visit a Pottery Barn Furniture Outlet, be sure to check for any current limited offers, sales or special clearances.
